"Great Expectations" (TV Movie) Pip's (Michael York) Overcoat

Description

Overcoat created for the production for use in "Great Expectations" (TV Movie) (1974) for Michael York's portrayal of "Pip."  Gold and ivory striped silk overcoat with a standing collar. Costume has been altered from its original look for a second, unknown, film. One clasp is at the center obverse opening. A wavy golden border has replaced the black decorative elements seen in the film. The belt loops on the reverse are still intact from use in "Great Expectations." Label on interior reverse reads "Bermans & Nathans / 18 IRVING ST., / LEICESTER SQ., W.C.2. / MICHAEL YORK / 7633 / GREAT EXPECTATIONS" with handwritten text over "EXPECTATIONS" that reads "DEVEREUX."
