"Unknown Treasure" Leather Studded Tunic Attributed to Omar Sharif
Description
A leather studded tunic attributed to Omar Sharif from an unidentified production, this piece showcases bold studio craftsmanship and strong visual impact. Constructed of dark leather, the sleeveless tunic is heavily embellished with rounded and floral metal appliqué across the surface, with decorative linear detailing linking each element to create a cohesive and striking design. Intentional studio-applied blood effects remain on the obverse, contributing to the dramatic character of the garment and reflecting its use within a production context. The tunic fastens with hook-and-eye closures along the proper left shoulder and side seam, allowing for a secure and tailored fit.
The interior lining features handwritten notations in black ink reading “OMAR / SHARIF / (D),” with additional markings nearby and on the opposite interior side that are difficult to decipher but appear to read “BN” and “DBL RAY.” Acquired from Angels, this tunic offers collectors a rare and evocative example of attributed wardrobe associated with one of cinema’s most celebrated actors.
Condition
Intentional studio-applied blood effects are present. The tunic exhibits visible fading of color throughout, with minor loss of metal appliqué across the surface and areas of color loss and tarnishing to the remaining appliqué elements. The garment has an overall dingy appearance, though it is difficult to determine whether some of this condition is the result of intentional studio aging or subsequent wear. Overall wear is consistent with production use and age, contributing to the piece’s authentic collector character.
